Recycle DIY: Gift basket

BushcraftZ 2014
Going to the movies is always a treat for us. I have however noticed the tremendous amount of waste generated in the form soft-drink (soda) and popcorn containers. I do hope that the movie houses have a recycling plan in place for these discarded items. After our last movie outing I took the popcorn container home and turned this bucket into a simple gift basket which I decorated with an embossed foil seal from a coffee jar.

Materials:
  • movie house popcorn bucket
  • foil seal from a coffee jar or any other decorative items
  • ribbon remnants
  • craft glue, embossing tool or knitting needle, craft sponge, punch

Method:
  1. Clean the movie popcorn bucket on the inside with a damp cloth.

  2. Cut two equal lengths of ribbon, long enough to be able to from a handle. Punch holes into the side of the bucket and thread the ribbon, secure the ribbons with a knot to form two handles.
  3. Decorate the bucket:

Embossing recycled foil seal. Place the seal upside down onto the craft sponge. Use an embossing tool or blunt ended knitting needle and emboss a simple design into the foil. Glue the embossed foil onto the bucket.
