- 4 ply natural cotton (elle premier ®) in four colours
- 3.25 mm crochet hook, embroidery needle and scissors
- Plastic cord fastner (often found on backpacks and sports wear)
- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet (US term sc – single crochet)
- dtr – double treble crochet (US term tc – treble crochet)
- sl st – slip stitch (US term sl st – slip stitch)
Method:
US terms are indicated in brackets
Step 1: Colour 1
Ch (ch) 20 to form the base of the pouch.

Step 2:
dc (sc) into the top loop of second chain, continue until the
end of the foundation chain. ch 1. Turn the work.

Step 3:
dc (sc) into the bottom loop of the chain continue until the
end of the foundation chain. Close the end with a sl st into first row to complete the
foundation round.

Step 4:
Round 1: ch 1. dc (sc) into the next 36 stitches. Complete
round with a sl st.
Round 2 – 5: repeat round 1
Step 5: Change to
colour 2
Round 6 -12: repeat round 1

Round 13-21: repeat round 1

Round 22: repeat round 1
Round 23: ch 3. dtr (tc) 36 times
Round 24-25: repeat round 1.
Step 8:
Thread all loose ends into the work with an embroidery needle.
Step 9:
Make a matching cord:
Cut 1m each of colour 1 and 2. Secure
one end to a stable object and twist the treads until there is tension. Find the middle of the twisted cord and
place your finger at this position then bring the two ends together and release
the ends. A cord should form. Smooth the cord out towards the open end
Tread the cord though the loops created in round 23. Thread
the ends through the plastic cord fastner and tie a knot. Cut off excess cord.
