DIY: Folded paper fish

BushcraftZ 2014
Sometimes simple easy to make paper ornaments can be very eye catching. The design for these paper fish was inspired by the delft blue craft paper I found.

Materials

  • A4 printed craft paper
  • Paper scissors, craft knife and cutting mat, double sided tape or paper glue, pencil, scorching tool and ruler
  • Paper fish pattern download PDF

Method
  1. Copy the downloaded fish pattern onto the back of the craft paper including the cutting and folding lines.
  2. Cut out the pattern including the side fins and mouth.

  3. Scorch along all folding lines. Fold the paper gently on these lines.
  4. Paste double sided tape on the position as indicated along the mouth cutting line. Fold the top of the mouth over the bottom and secure with the tape. The overlap is approximately 5 mm.
  5. Fold the two tabs at the mouth, behind the dorsal fin and at the tail fin inwards.
  6. Fold the two sides of the fish up and glue together with double sided tape or paper glue at the folded tabs. Also glue the two dorsal fins together. Gently pull out the side fins and shape by hand to complete the fish.
