BushcraftZ 2014 |
I found this old dusty leather binocular case in a charity
shop for five Rand. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the binoculars
were missing but the case was still in a good condition on the outside while
the inner lining had some damage. After cleaning and polishing the leather I
updated the inner lining with red faux leather and colourful printed cotton to
update the binocular case. A little handmade handbag decor lifts the leather exterior transforming this binocular case into an up-cycled handbag ready for an outing.
BushcraftZ 2014 Clean the inside and outside of the old binoculars case. Polish the leather. |
BushcraftZ 2014 Remove any inner binocular specific support structures. Measure the base of the case and lid as well as the circumference of the inner case. |
BushcraftZ 2014 Cut a lining from faux leather for the case. I used cotton print to finish off the top edge of the lining. |
BushcraftZ 2014 Use plastic or cardboard and cut a template for the base of the case and lid. Cover the base with cotton fabric. |
BushcraftZ 2014
Use strong multipurpose adhesive and line the inner sides of the case.
Insert the cotton covered base of the case and lit to produce a clean finish for the bag.

BushcraftZ 2014
Add matching handcrafted decoration on the outside of the bag.
