Materials:
- Felt 20 cm x 20 cm
- Felt remnants
- 6 small buttons
- 3 x 10 cm elastic or 3 hair elastics
- Beads, embroidery cotton in various colours, general
sewing equipment
- Download pattern for the coffee cup cosy
Method:
1. Use downloaded pattern and cut the following
pieces from felt:
- 2 x 20cm x 9 cm
felt rectangles
- 1 x coffee mug
- 1 x coffee mug handle
- 1 x circle
- 1 x heart
- 1 x cupcake cup
- 1 x cupcake top
- 1 x cherry
- 2 x leaf (optional – can also be embroidered on)
2. Refer to the pattern and arrange all pieces accordingly
onto one of the felt rectangles.
3. Use embroidery cotton to sew pieces into place. Add
stitching as indicated on pattern and embellish the cupcake with beads.

4. Fold the three pieces of elastic in half and sew onto the
first rectangle as indicated on the pattern.
5. Place the decorated felt onto the second felt rectangle
and sew the pieces together along the edges with embroidery.

6. Sew the six buttons in place to finish off the coffee cup
cosy. The three buttons on the elastic side can be used to anchor the elastic
to the felt to prevent damage to the cosy when in use.
