DIY: Zendoodle inspired owl - iPad carry bag

BushcraftZ 2014

This iPad carry bag was inspired by my current zendoodle obsession. It is easy to make and accommodating to any doodle- inspiration one might have.

Materials:
  • The amount of fabric needed depends on the size of the iPad. For my iPad Air I used to following measurements. If your iPad is larger or smaller these measurements can be adjusted.
  • 1 x 31cm x 25cm white cotton for the front panel
  • 1 x 31cm x 25cm pattern cotton for the back panel
  • 2 x 31cm x 25cm patterned cotton for the inner lining
  • 2 x 31cm x 25cm clear plastic table cloth cover for the outside layer (optional)
  • 1x 30 cm long zip
  • 2 x 50cm braid for the handle
  • Fine permanent marker
  • General sewing supplies
  • Owl pattern (Optional) or doodle you own design)

Method:
  1. Draw the doodle onto the white cotton fabric with a permanent marker to make to from panel.

  2. If you are using the plastic lining place the plastic lining on the right side of the front and back cover and treat and one.
  3. Insert the zip between the front and back panels as follows: Place right sides of the front panel and the lining together. Place the zip between the two , ensure that the zip is facing the front panel and  sew the zip in place with a zipper foot. Turn fabric to have the right sides facing.  Repeat for the back panel. The back and front panels should now be attached with the zipper.

  4. With the right sides together align the edges carefully and open the zip slightly. Sew along the open edges. Turn right side out. Press seams and corners.
  5. Attach the braid onto the front and back panels to make the handles.
