A few week ago I was re-organizing the kitchen cupboards and
found a lonely wine glass and mismatched glass plates in various sizes and
designs. With the festive season around the corner I decided to repurpose these
items into an updated cake and sweet stand.
Materials:
- Glass plates and a wine glass
- Craft paint (I used red acrylic craft paint) and a paint brush
- Rubbing alcohol
Method:
- Thoroughly clean the glass with soap and water and remove any residual fat on the glass with alcohol.
- Paint the under sides of the plates with a few layers of craft paint until you are satisfied with the effect when turning the plate right side up. Allow the paint to dry between each layer.
- Assemble the stand by placing the larger plate at the bottom, place a small decorative item in the middle of the plate. (I used a succulent plant cutting, but any interesting object will do.) Place the wine glass up-side-down over the item in the centre of the plate creating the effect of a miniature cloche. Finally place the smaller plate on top of the wine glass foot.
- Arrange festive snacks, cookies or sweets on the stand.
