Re-purpose DIY: Cake and sweet stand with a mini cloche.

BushcraftZ 2014
A few week ago I was re-organizing the kitchen cupboards and found a lonely wine glass and mismatched glass plates in various sizes and designs. With the festive season around the corner I decided to repurpose these items into an updated cake and sweet stand.

Materials:
  • Glass plates and a wine glass
  • Craft paint (I used red acrylic craft paint) and a paint brush
  • Rubbing alcohol

Method:
  1. Thoroughly clean the glass with soap and water and remove any residual fat on the glass with alcohol.
  2. Paint the under sides of the plates with a few layers of craft paint until you are satisfied with the effect when turning the plate right side up. Allow the paint to dry between each layer.
  3. Assemble the stand by placing the larger plate at the bottom, place a small decorative item in the middle of the plate. (I used a succulent plant cutting, but any interesting object will do.) Place the wine glass up-side-down over the item in the centre of the plate creating the effect of a miniature cloche. Finally place the smaller plate on top of the wine glass foot.
  4. Arrange festive snacks, cookies or sweets on the stand.
